James Craig Smith
James Craig Smith, 88, of Washington, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, in Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living, Washington.
He was born October 23, 1929, in Washington, a son of the late Wilbert and Mary Lindley Smith.
He was a graduate of Washington High School and received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Waynesburg College.
He worked as a math teacher, and then a sales representative, and went on to own and operate Smith Pump & Supply Co. and Plantation House. He also serviced vacuum cleaners until this year.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict.
On June 18, 1955, he married Glenna C. Cole, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Craig D. (Katya) Smith of Lewes, Del.; a daughter, Rebecca (Steve) Ressler of Nashville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Martha Ressler of Nashville and Helen Ressler of Jerusalem, Israel; and other relatives.
Deceased is a sister, Doris Anne Grable.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, with the Rev. Sue Petritis, chaplain of Gateway Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
