Bette R. Green

Bette R. Green, 97, of Hickory, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

She was born December 10, 1920, in Hickory, a daughter of Oliver and Florence McCalmont Robinson.

Mrs. Green was a graduate of Hickory High School.

She worked for more than ten years as a nursing assistant and unit secretary in Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Green was a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

She loved traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach, camping and visiting her sons, who were all in the U.S. Air Force at one time. She was very proud her sons served their country.

On December 9, 1939, in Hickory, she married Gerard Green, who died in February 1990. They had celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Surviving are five children, Gerry Green of Castle Rock, Colo., Dan Green (Donna) of San Antonio, Texas, Denis Green (Sue) of Washington, David “Rick” Green (Kay) of Baldwinsville, N.Y. and Cheryl Mazza (Dennis) of Canonsburg; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Robinson (Billie) of Hickory; and a special niece, Jeanine Miles (Ken) of Hickory.

Deceased are a brother, Ray Robinson; and a nephew, Terry Robinson.

All services are private and have been entrusted to McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, 724-745-2350.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Presbyterian Seniorcare Benevolent Fund, 835 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301.
