Edward M. Zalar Jr.
Edward M. Zalar Jr., 74, of Carmichaels, died Friday, December 29, 2017, in his home.
He was born March 28, 1943, in Rices Landing, a son of the late Edward M. Sr. and Gladys Zupancic Zalar. His wife, Lynda Routzman Zalar, is also deceased.
Mr. Zalar worked as a barber at the Pentagon when he was a young man. He later worked as a coal miner and foreman at Dilworth Mine at Rices Landing, until retirement.
He was a member of Carmichaels Moose and Jessop Boat Club.
Mr. Zalar loved to ride horses, two of his favorites were Jasmine and Big Mama. His family would be remiss not to mention his dogs, Fred and Chip.
Surviving are two sons, James Edward Zalar (Doreen) and Robert J. Zalar (Marla J.), both of Carmichaels; a daughter, Debbie Beatty (Jamie) of Front Royal, Va.; six grandchildren, Matthew and Jenna Beatty, Ryan and Sophia Zalar, and Carissa and Zachary Zalar; four siblings, James E. Zalar (Paula) of Carmichaels, Linda Krajnak (John) of Carmichaels, Patricia Malhiot (Kirk) of Livermore, Calif., and Jacqueline Chueng (Tom) of Redword City, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At the request of the deceased, services are private.
