Perry Christopher Smith

Perry Christopher Smith, 56, of Washington died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in his home as a result of heart-related issues.

He was born July 3, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of Mary O’Hare Smith of Washington and the late Dr. Perry C. Smith Jr.

Mr. Smith was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

He was a 1979 graduate of Gilmore Academy, Cleveland, Ohio, and also attended Penn State University.

He served in the U.S. Air Force, receiving the following decorations and citations: Training Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon-Short Tour, Basic Military Training Honor Graduate Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster and Commendation Medal.

Following his discharge from the military, Mr. Smith graduated from Villanova University with a civil engineering degree. He later attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are four sisters, M. Patricia Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Deborah A. Smith of Bethel Park, Susan DeMeglio of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathleen (Robert) Smith-Delach of Pittsburgh; two brothers, James Smith of Pittsburgh and Michael (Gretchen) Smith of State College; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Mark) Snover, Jennifer (Ryan) Relyea, David Lower, George DeMeglio, Sara Delach, Caitlin Delach, Jack Lower, Murphy DeMeglio, Maclean Smith, Seamus Smith and Moira Smith.

Deceased, in addition to his father, is a brother, Paul Smith.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 4, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with the Rev. William P. Feeney as celebrant. Burial will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
