Mary I. Alexander

Mary I. Alexander, 95, of Finleyville, died Thursday, November 2, 2017, in her home.

She was born July 22, 1922, in Finleyville, a daughter of George and Elizabeth Charlton Todd.

Mrs. Alexander was a graduate of Monongahela High School.

She was a very active member and pillar of Mingo Creek Presbyterian Church in Finleyville. For decades, she was the church’s treasurer and served on its session. In 1938, the United Class was started, in which she was very active and in 1982 held the office of president. She loved her church and did whatever she could to keep it going. She especially enjoyed working their spaghetti dinners and was well known for selling fruit cakes and dish cloths for the church.

Surviving are her son, Leonard Alexander and wife Lisa of Monongahela; three grandchildren, Nicole and Shawn Alexander and Melissa Zyski; sister, Norma Jean O’Donoghue of Largo, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband, Leonard Alexander, who died April 14, 1979; four brothers, William, George, Harold and Leonard Todd; three sisters, Barbara and Dorothy Todd and Edith Clanton.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, with the Rev. Glen McClelland officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
