Richard Travers
Richard Travers, 86, of Old Town, Fla., passed away October 25, 2017, following a five year battle with cancer.
He was born September 21, 1931, to the late Henry and Mary Travers.
Mr. Travers was an iron worker for the Iron Workers Local Union No. 3 for 67 years, from where he retired in 1995. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 639 in Claysville, where he served once as commander and district officer. He was also a member of Moose Lodge No. 22 in Washington.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. Travers; a son, Andy Travers (Brenda) of Colorado; two stepsons, Herbert and William Barrett of West Virginia; four stepdaughters, Debra (Tim) Sanders of Washington, Mildred (John) Hough of Port Charlotte, Fla., Brenda (Mark) Dovidio of Oscala, Fla., and Robin Iams of Washington; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce, three sisters and a great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323, 724-663-7373, www.youngfhinc.com. A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, November 7, in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors to follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
