Clara Ruth Jones Simmons, 56, died peacefully Monday, November 6, 2017, in her home in Spraggs, after a struggle with cancer.

She was born August 3, 1961, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Leroy Fordyce Jones and Lucy Mae Jenkins Jones.

On October 3, 1981, she married the love of her life, Robert M. Simmons, and together, they raised three children. The love for her husband over the last 36 years was truly unconditional and the love she gave her children and grandchildren was unquestionably the strongest devotion one could have. No matter what she may have been going through, she always put others before herself and treated others the way she wanted to be treated.

She enjoyed reading, crotchet and staying in touch with friends through Facebook and lunch dates. She always had a solution to a problem and was glad to share it. She spent time in the woods near her home and in Florida hunting with her husband. Over the last few years, she enjoyed taking trips with her husband, especially to Amish Country. Robert and she were truly a team and together could accomplish anything including building their own home, traveling and loving each other dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Simmons; beloved children Laura L. Martin, Marshall I. Simmons and Crystal M. Simmons; seven grandchildren, Ruthie Simmons, Blaine Martin, Robert Vaughn Martin, Pearl Martin, Lilly Jackson, Kenneth Jackson and Clara Jane Martin; her brothers and sisters, Leroy Junior Jones, Galen (Sharron) Jones, Allen (Sharryn M.) Jones, Barbara Lee Jones and Steve Jones; her mother-in-law, Ethel Pearl Haines Simmons; sister-in-law Dorothea Jane Adams; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, deceased are three grandchildren, Alexander Patrick Robert Simmons and twins Lucy Pearl Martin and Katie Lynn Martin; sister Clara Jones; brother Bobby Jones; and father-in-law M. Vaughn Simmons.

All of those who were there for her during her illness over the last few months have earned the family’s gratitude.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10, with Pastor Monica Calvert and Pastor Phillip Yost officiating. Burial will be held in Simmons Family Cemetery, Spraggs.
