Martha Veltri, 83, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in her home.

An overwhelming faith in her God helped guide her in all of her decisions throughout her life.

She was born May 3, 1934, in Smilno, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of the late John and Anna Anderek Tomik. At the age of three, she emigrated to the United States with her father and joined her mother, who had come earlier to work.

Mrs. Veltri was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church. She was very active with the Christian mothers of the church and volunteered for all church functions.

She had been employed by Pennsylvania Transformer, Canonsburg, as a clerk in their credit department. She also worked for a brief time at Brockway Glass Co., Washington.

Mrs. Veltri was a Christian mother and enjoyed volunteering at St. Hilary Church, but most of all enjoyed spending time with family.

On August 24, 1956, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, she married Paul Veltri, who passed away July 12, 2010.

Surviving are three children, John Paul Veltri of Grand Rapids, Mich., Paula Ann (Joseph Giambelluca) Veltri of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mark Francis (Linda Hale) Veltri of Robinson Township; two sisters, Mary Ann Shogan of Levittown and Florence (Anthony) Azzardi of Scenery Hill; two brothers, John Tomik of Haddenfield, N.J., and William (Carolyn) Tomik of Rainbow City, Ala.; three grandchildren, Meghan Veltri, Vincent Veltri and Gabriella Veltri; and a great-grandson, Robert “RJ” Clawges. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Julietta Veltri, Margaret Veltri, Angelina Veltri, Virginia Adamsky, Dolores Wilson and Ellie Veltri; brothers-in-law, Victor Veltri, Michael Veltri, Allan Adamsky and Henry Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are brothers-in-law, Louis Shogan, Anthony Brovey, Pietro Veltri and Eugene Veltri; and a sister-in-law, Deborah Veltri.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 11, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Washington.
