Edith Rose Conklin
Edith Rose Conklin, 81, of Prosperity, died Thursday, November 9, 2017, in Washington Hospital.
She was born October 17, 1936, in Dunns Station, a daughter of Cecil and Pearl Cooper Hickman.
She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington.
Mrs. Conklin enjoyed arranging flowers and working in her flower beds. She was the best mom ever and never saw a baby she didn’t love.
On June 20, 1952, she married Robert “Gene” Conklin, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Phil (Beth) Conklin and John Conklin, both of Prosperity, and Tim (Merf) Conklin of Simpsonville, S.C.; nine daughters, Melissa Heath of Springville, Utah, Melanie (Bill) Steffey of Prosperity, Mary Beth (Larry) Bell of Horn Lake, Miss., Marvel (Mark) Earnshaw of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Millie (Robert) Bickmore of Tomball, Texas, Mindi (Mike) Harden of Washington, Marci (John) Hills of Goffstown, N.H., Miki (John) Rowan of Toquerville, Utah, and Monica (Garret) Larson of Snohomish, Wash.; a daughter in-law, Debra Conklin of Washington; 42 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Marshall of Greenville; and a brother, Lee Hickman of Lore City, Ohio.
Deceased are a son, Todd G. Conklin, and a brother, Neil Hickman.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 13, with Bishop Robert Young officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests doing a kind deed in memory of Mrs. Conklin.
