Satish S. Kumar
Dr. Satish S. Kumar passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie S. Kumar, and his father, Laxman Prasad Shrivastava.
Dr. Kumar immigrated to the United States in 1979 and settled in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from medical school in India and completed his residency in pediatrics at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. From there, he spent the next 20 years working at a pediatric practice in Waynesburg, before relocating to Ohio in 2004, and thereafter taking a position at Vlad Pediatrics in Cortland, Ohio.
Within moments of meeting Dr. Kumar, his passion for medicine was apparent. It was so much more than what he did; it was a part of who he was. Even in social settings, somehow the conversation would turn to discussion of the newest medical advancements or recent findings in the pediatric field. His patients became like extended members of the family, and the love he had for them was rivaled only by his love for his own children and his grandson.
Surviving are his mother, Vidyavati Shrivastava; his wife, Dr. Madhubala Kothari; a daughter, Neena and husband Mark Rawls; two sons, Puneet Kumar and Dev Kumar; a grandson, son of Neena and Mark Rawls, Micah Samir Rawls; his extended family in both the United States and India; and the hundreds of patients and families upon whom his work and dedication had such a positive impact.
There will be a memorial service honoring Dr. Kumar’s life Saturday, November 11, in Beinhauer Family Funeral Home, 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. There will be a viewing from 2 to 3 p.m., the time of a cremation ceremony.
