Roger A. Dague

Roger A. Dague, 80, of Staunton, Va., went to be with his Lord Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in his residence.

He was born December 29, 1936, on the family farm in South Franklin Township, Washington, to the late Stewart and Elizabeth Fowler Dague.

Mr. Dague was raised Presbyterian and attended Bethel Presbyterian Church. Following his marriage July 23, 1958, in Winchester, Va., he was confirmed in Trinity Episcopal Church.

He attended Lagonda Grade School and in 1954 he graduated from Trinity High School, Washington.

Mr. Dague served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957 and in the Naval Reserve from 1957 to 1962. During the Korean Conflict, he served aboard the U.S.S. Ault 698.

He was employed by Washington City Fire Department and worked for various colleges in food service management during his career.

Mr. Dague was a member of American Legion Post 340, where he served in many capacities, including Honor Guard.

His hobbies were golf, swimming, bowling, hunting, shooting archery and softball. His interest, for over 20 years, was in raising and showing Pomeranians. He loved meeting people and was loved by all.

In addition to his parents, deceased are a son, Scott E. Dague; two sisters, Susan Hutson and Catherine Moore; and a brother, Odell Dague.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Dague of Staunton; son Mark A. (Donna Carr) Dague of Elkins, W.Va.; daughters Mary E. Osborne of Fredericksburg, Va., and Jennifer L. (Gary) Rippel of Gloucester, Va.; sister Shirley Comfort of Washington; brother Charles Dague of Washington; and an aunt, Dorothy Ptaszek. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, November 18, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
