Lena Mae Bologna
Lena Mae “Linda” Bologna, 85, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, in her home, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She married Louis Bologna Sr., the love of her life, and they celebrated 69 beautiful years together.
Mrs. Bologna dedicated her life to making a beautiful, loving home for her family. No birthday or holiday was ever missed or celebrated without her. She will surely be one of God’s heavenly gardeners, particularly for gardenias and orchids, her favorite flowers. She loved her home and sharing it with family and friends for numerous annual gatherings. Her favorite was the Christmas Eve gathering. Her Christmas nut rolls and pizzelles will be greatly missed this year.
She had a very close group of friends for well over 50 years who traveled around the world together as couples. Those friendships were most valued and will continue in heaven.
Mrs. Bologna was an Akronite for 56 years. She enjoyed being involved civically and in her church as an active member of St. Hilary Church, its Altar Society and bridge group, Women’s Civic Club, St. Thomas Hospital’s “Day at the Races” and host for charitable dinners. She was also a member of Fairlawn Country Club, where she loved to play bridge regularly.
Deceased are her parents, Marvin Brown and Edna Carl, and three brothers, Jack (MaryAnn), Robert (Barbra) and Jeff Brown.
Surviving are her husband, Louis Bologna Sr.; three sons, Louis Bologna Jr. (Elaine), Gary Bologna (Vicki) and Raymond Bologna, M.D. (Andrea Rogers, M.D.); two sisters, Pricilla Holman (the late Charles) and Lucy Hill (Paul); a brother, the Rev. Marvin Brown (Sandy); nine grandchildren, Heather Bologna, Hilarie Durrett (Darren), Louis A. Bologna, Joseph Bologna, Nicholas Bologna, Adam Bologna (Stephanie), Jared Bologna (Lindsey), Jeff Bologna (Olivia) and Isabella Bologna; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beautiful, loving friend and caregiver, Mamie Brown.
Mrs. Bologna received great care from all her caregivers, as well as her caring hospice team.
Her family will keep her tradition of love at all family gatherings in her memory. She will forever be in their loving hearts.
A celebration of her beautiful life will be held Saturday, November 18, in St. Hilary Church, 2750 West Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 44333.
