Harold David Shultz
Harold David Shultz, 69, of Solomons, Md., formerly of Marianna, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
He was born August 17, 1948, in Brownsville, a son of the late Harold Donaldson and Mary T. Donofrio Shultz.
Mr. Shultz was a 1966 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and a 1976 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in education.
He was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring as a chief petty officer serving as an optical man.
From 1976 to 2002, Mr. Shultz worked as a technology education teacher for Central Greene School District at Margaret Bell Miller Middle School. He then became an adjunct professor at California University of Pennsylvania, supervising student teachers.
Mr. Shultz was a Lions Club member for 23 years. He belonged to Scenery Hill Lions Club, where he served as president in 2002. At the time of his death, he was a member of Beallsville-Centerville-Richeyville Lions Club, where he was gun chairman and received the Melvin Jones Award.
He truly enjoyed teaching, being a mentor, hunting, fishing and traveling; and he was a serious Lionel Train collector.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Virginia “Ginny” Reeves Shultz; three children, Tracy Lyn Sheedy, David Shawn Shultz and Laura Lee Mike; and six grandchildren, Samantha Haines, Hunter Haines, Madiera Halow, Wyatt Clutter, Natalia Mike and Nash Sheedy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 22. Interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, at a time and date to be announced. The Beallsville-Centerville-Richeyville Lions Club will hold services at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
