Frances Helen Rodgers
Frances Helen Rodgers, 85, of Marianna, died Friday, November 17, 2017, in Betty White’s Personal Care Home, Centerville.
She was born December 28, 1931, in Marianna, a daughter of the late Alex and Anna Midla Shogan.
Mrs. Rodgers was a 1949 graduate of West Bethlehem High School.
She was a waitress for Century Inn in Scenery Hill for many years, before her retirement.
Mrs. Rodgers was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Sts. Mary & Ann Catholic Church, Marianna, formerly of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish. She helped with many social gatherings at the church.
She was active in Vestaburg Senior Center. She enjoyed square dancing and riding quads. She did a lot of traveling through the years. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her cat, Kizzy. She enjoyed taking care of her farm, cooking and making jelly. She was known as the “Jelly Lady.”
Surviving are two sons, John (Linda) Rodgers of Pittsburgh and Thomas (Audrey) Rodgers of Hopewell; three grandchildren, John T. (Kimberly) Rodgers, Chrissy (Matt) Makowiecki and Brooke Rodgers; four great-grandchildren, Zaynah Makowiecki, Zakery Makowiecki, Belle Rodgers and John Rhett Rodgers; and three sisters, Sylvia (Donald) Kimberland, Dolores (Howard) Hughes and Maryanne Shogan.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, John E. Rodgers; three brothers, Louis Shogan, Joseph Shogan and Michael Shogan; and two sisters, Margaret Dragan and Ann Tominello.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, November 21, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
