George F. Powell, 82, of California, died Monday, November 20, 2017.

He was born Wednesday, November 21, 1934, in California, a son of the late Cabe Powell and Elizabeth McGinnis Powell.

For many years he, along with his wife, owned and operated Powell’s Auto Parts and Service in California.

He was a member of California Young Men’s Club, California Athletic Club (CAC), of which he was a founding member, and the former American Legion JFK Post 377 of California.

In addition to his parents, deceased are his wife, Peggy, and three brothers, Cabe Powell, Guy Powell and Todd McLaughlin.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pamela Duricic and husband Jeff of California; sister Sophie Hotz of California; brothers Bert Powell of California and Gerald “Jerry” Powell of Newell; a granddaughter, Chelsey Duricic; a dear friend at Liberty Tower; and numerous nieces and nephews

Also surviving are his granddogs, Otis and Remmy.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA 15419, and until 11 a.m. Friday, November 24, when funeral services will be held in the funeral home with the Rev. Candace Cook officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
