Robert P. Wagner
Robert P. “Bob” Wagner of Strabane passed away Tuesday evening, November 21, 2017.
He was born August 12, 1946, the middle son of the late Charles Wagner and Marie Manes Wagner.
Mr. Wagner married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Lombardi, who survives.
He retired from Cellone’s Bakery.
Mr. Wagner was a lifelong baseball fan, particularly of the New York Yankees. He played baseball throughout his youth and early adulthood, before spending time as a sports writer for the Canonsburg Daily Notes newspaper in the 1960s.
He loved his family and nearly any type of friendly sport or game, most notably horseshoes or bowling. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At family gatherings, he was always at the center of any comedic family anecdote, discussions concerning regional sports or, even more likely, a lively game of euchre.
Surviving, in addition to his beloved, are five children, Annette Matusky of Washington, Maria (Gregory) Binotto of Strabane, Bobbi (Timothy) DiClaudio of South Fayette, Carla (Joshua) Mankey of Strabane and Robert (Kelly) Wagner Jr. of Mars; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale “Mickey” (Penny) Wagner of Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Charles J. “Skip” Wagner.
In lieu of traditional formal services, friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 25, in SNPJ Lodge 138, 269 Latimer Avenue, Strabane, PA 15363, where a family wake will be held in celebration of his life, as was his request.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, on behalf of Rosie’s Rescuers, at www.alz.org.
