Michael Harvey
Michael Harvey, 87, of Langeloth, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, November 24, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 22, 1930, in Hill Station, a son of the late George Harvey Sr. and Mary Churpak Harvey.
Mr. Harvey was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from January 26, 1948, during the Korean Conflict, until his honorable discharge January 25, 1952. He was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal (Korea) and Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars.
He retired after 32 years from J&L Steel in Aliquippa.
Mr. Harvey was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Avella, Burgettstown Knights of Columbus Council 3440, Atlasburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6490 and Burgettstown American Legion Post 1526.
He enjoyed bowling, bocce, dart ball, and most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren.
On August 12, 1967, he married his wife of 50 years, Patricia Harshey Harvey, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kristy Reeder and husband Thomas of Burgettstown; grandchildren Brooke Ann Acklin and Shawn P. Quinlan; brothers and sisters Mary Rolya of Midland, John Harvey, George Harvey Jr. and wife Delores, both of Langeloth, Joseph Harvey and wife Flo of Atlasburg, and Sister Susan Harvey OSBN of Uniontown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where a parastas service will be held at 6:00 p.m. A Devine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 176 Cross Creek Road, Avella with Father Vasyl Symyon officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John Byzantine Cemetery, Avella.
