Gerald W. Hickman
Gerald W. Hickman, 79, of Washington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born October 1, 1938, in Dunns Station, a son of the late Stephen and Margaret Penn Hickman.
Mr. Hickman was a 1956 graduate of Trinity High School.
He went on to be employed for 22 years with American Telephone and Telegraph Co., Pittsburgh. He worked for Bell Atlantic, now Verizon, of Pittsburgh, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Hickman was a member of Communications Workers of America Local 13000 and Telephone Pioneers.
On January 6, 1958, he married Carolyn Joann Baldwin, who survives. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary January 6, 2018.
Mr. Hickman attended Abundant Life Baptist Church, Washington, as long as his health permitted, after suffering a stroke in March 2010.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Gerald S. (Evelyn) Hickman of Richeyville; two daughters, Sherri L. (John) Cheplic of Richmond, Va., and Lisa R. (Michael) Strnisha of Canonsburg; a brother, Donald P. Hickman of Claysville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise Hickman of Prosperity; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Stephen L., Reed E. and E. Vernon Hickman, and a sister, Mary Jo Archer.
All services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner/supervisor, Lawrence K. Donovan, director.
