Jeanie Marie Barnhart Jarvis, 64, of East Finley Township, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband holding her hand Saturday, October 21, 2017, following a brief illness.

She was born November 15, 1952, a daughter of the late Neil and Ella Tiger Barnhart.

On November 13, 1981, she married Pastor James Jarvis, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Jamie; a son-in-law, Michael; her grandsons; and a sister, Adele Betty (Will) Musgrove.

Mrs. Jarvis loved reading, studying her Bible, taking pictures, being asked Bible trivia questions, listening to gospel music and, above all, spending time with her family.

Although mostly behind the scenes, she was instrumental in helping her husband, Pastor James “Jimmy” Jarvis, shepherd of the flock at Rogersville Christian Church, The Place of Grace.

In July 2013, her dream of being a grandmother came true when she was blessed with her first grandchild, Elijah. In July 2016, she joyfully welcomed her second grandchild, Matthew. She was lovingly called “Waga” by Elijah, who adored her. The time she spent with her grandbabies was the highlight of her life. In the short time Elijah and Matthew were privileged to know their “Waga,” she showered them with enough love to last them a lifetime.

Mrs. Jarvis fought a courageous 36-year-long battle with severe rheumatoid arthritis. Despite her daily struggles, she never lost faith and remained forever hopeful she would be healed of the disease one day, whether here on earth or when she reached her final home. She finally won her battle with rheumatoid arthritis Saturday, when she was welcomed into heaven and the loving arms of the Savior she faithfully served.

She will be greatly missed, but her memory and the love she showed will live forever in the hearts of the many who loved her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC, Rogersville, PA 15359, 724-499-5181, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, with Pastor Bruce Judy and Pastor Jimmy Jarvis officiating. Jeanie will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Wind Ridge.
