Olive Smith Ferrell
Olive Smith Ferrell, 92, of Deltona, Fla., formerly Hickory, passed away peacefully Friday, October 20, 2017, in her home.
She was born November 11, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, a daughter of Vance M. and Jane Morgan Smith.
Mrs. Ferrell was a homemaker. She was a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
She was a 1942 graduate of Hickory High School.
On October 4, 1947, she married John “Tony” Ferrell, who died September 15, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, James R. Ferrell (Linda) of Endicott, N.Y., and Jack L. Ferrell (Joan) of Deltona; two brothers, Robert M. Smith (Peggy) and Richard L. Smith, both of Hickory; two sisters, Dorothy J. Walker of Hickory and Roberta “Bertie” Farrar (Larry) of Columbia, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Nancy Ferrell Messmer (John) of Endwell, N.Y., Daniel Ferrell (Tiffany) and Mark Ferrell, both of Endicott, Jaclyn Ferrell Jordan (Joe) of New York, N.Y., Gina Hillegas Kubica (Mark) of Deltona, Melissa Loffredo of Palenville, N.Y., and Jennifer Chewins of Ocean Springs, Miss.; six great-grandchildren, Lucas Messemer and Colin, Landon and Olivia Ferrell, all of Endicott, Lily Chewins of Ocean Springs and Emily Russo of Palenville; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, J. Arthur, Vance Jr. and Paul Smith, and a sister, Elsie Smith.
At the request of the deceased, services and interment will be private. A memorial reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 28, at the Smith Farm in Hickory.
