George Davis
George “Jock” Davis, 82, of Carmichaels, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, October 22, 2017, in his home.
He was born July 19, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Edward W. and Bertha Hiles Davis.
Mr. Davis attended German Township High School and resided in Carmichaels since 1950.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1960, and retired from the Jefferson division of West Penn Power in 1995, after working there for 31 years.
Mr. Davis served as a deacon and elder at Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels and was a faithful member of the Wellness Center at Washington Health System-Greene.
He enjoyed metal detecting and was an avid bird enthusiast. His favorite birds were Purple Martins and Blue Birds.
Mr. Davis cherished the company of this family, especially his great-grandchildren.
On April 17, 1965, he married Lena Stickles Kovalcheck, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Alan Davis and fiancé Maria of Moon Township; a daughter-in-law, Billie Jean Kovalcheck of Carmichaels; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Joe, Sam and Michelle; nine great-grandchildren, Robert, Zach, Ashtyn, Camden, Gresh, Ellis, Layne, Chase and Preston; a sister, Barbara Harrington of Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Robert Kovalcheck Jr.; a brother, James Davis; and a sister, Darlene Davis Stoffa.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, October 25, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, with the Rev. P. Keith Larson and the Rev. Harold O. Kelley officiating.
