Anna Mis McConaughey
Anna Mis McConaughey, 85, of Weirton, W.Va., passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 31, 2017, in Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born February 18, 1932, in Langeloth, a daughter of the late Steve and Irene Mermon Mis.
Mrs. McConaughey was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. McConaughey, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Teofila (Pat) McGraw, Carol Jean Dibacco and Nick Iannetti.
She was an avid gardener with a “green thumb” and loved to spend time nurturing her flowers and plants. She spent her life caring for others and loving her family. She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Mrs. McConaughey was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be remembered and loved by all who knew her. She made her family’s world vibrant and colorful with her flower garden. Her family will miss her dearly but will have memories of her to bloom forever in their hearts.
Surviving are son James Patrick McConaughey and wife Robin of Myersville, Md.; daughter Lori McConaughey of Pompano Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Bradley Jacob (Morgan) Lawson, Matthew Patrick (Emily) McConaughey and Grant Thomas McConaughey; great-grandson Bryce Charles Lawson; sisters Helen (George) Hvidos of Mt. Lebanon, Stefana Iannetti of Burgettstown and Vonice (Russ) Carr of New London, Conn.; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends Karen Panza and Donna DiPasquale.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 4, in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, with the Rev. Tony Thurston will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.
