Jeffrey W. Armstrong
Jeffrey W. Armstrong, 61, of Washington, passed unexpectedly Monday, April 2, 2018, in his home.
Mr. Armstrong was born December 16, 1956, in Washington Hospital, a son of the late Roland and Shirley Armstrong.
He was a graduate of Washington High School. Mr. Armstrong worked various jobs, including A-Z Janitorial Supplies, Family Dollar and CVS Pharmacy.
Bearing a friendly face and bushy beard, Jeff could always be seen walking in uptown Washington. He loved rooting for the New England Patriots and he was heckled affectionately by his friends, especially while walking in his Pats coat.
A lifelong bookworm, he was found in Citizens Library at least twice a week. Other pastimes Mr. Armstrong enjoyed were cooking and baking, listening to classic rock records and “booing” the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was fond of his spider plants and had several in his windows.
Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his only granddaughter, Abigail. Poppy loved her tremendously, treasuring every moment with her. Abby brightened his life with hope, love and childlike wonder. He also adored his two daughters, Justina and Jerika, and passed along his witty sense of humor, sarcasm and determination. Mr. Armstrong had a special bond with his son-in-law Adam, and the two often shared stories and jokes. Mr. Armstrong also spent time with Jerika’s fiancé, James, sharing their interests of fishing and history.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by two daughters, Justina (Adam) Arena and Jerika (James Pearson) Armstrong; a granddaughter, Abigail Arena; a brother, William (Rosann) Armstrong; two sisters, Nancy (Paul) McMahan and Patti (Ron) DeMark; several nieces, a nephew and many friends. He is also survived by his former spouse, Amy Armstrong.
