Mary Jane Dybell Kirr

Mary Jane Dybell Kirr, 99, of Latrobe, formerly of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, five days before her 100th birthday.

She was born April 9, 1918, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Bayer Dybell.

She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School. She was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Canonsburg.

Her husband, William Kirr, died March 16, 2006, after 64 years of marriage. Their only child, Rosemary Kirr, died at 58, November 23, 2001, after a long fight with breast cancer.

Mary Jane is survived by Richard Gibson, friend of the family and soulmate of her dear daughter, Rosemary, and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States.

Loved ones appreciate Cindy Frye and the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living in Latrobe for the compassionate care given to Mary Jane, as well as Ms. Janet Schreiber, who was a friend and helper, as well as the next door neighbor in Canonsburg and Mary Ann DaPra and late husband Chet Elewski Jr.

In addition to her parents, her husband and her daughter, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Victoria Pirozak, Nellie Bastio, Helen Kloska and Julia Byers, and her brothers, Joseph, Louis and James Dybell.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation and services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.

The family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to Duquesne University’s Rosemary Kirr and Richard Gibson Scholarship Program; St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg; or Brookdale at Latrobe, in Mary Jane’s name.
