George R. “Bob” Davies, 85, of Washington, formerly of Lawrence, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, in Donnell House, Concordia Hospice of Washington.

He was born August 7, 1932, in Washington, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Luke Davies.

Mr. Davies was a devout Christian who attended Faith Chapel Community Church, Lawrence, and Central Assembly of God, Houston. During his time attending Faith Chapel, he went 12 years without missing a single Sunday service.

He attended Cecil High School.

In 1994, Mr. Davies retired from Western Center, where he worked for many years.

In his free time, he enjoyed reading, singing and spending time outdoors. He was also known for keeping an exceptionally trimmed lawn.

Mr. Davies served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

On December 28, 1974, in Washington, he married Violet Ruth Ward, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Renee Eckert of Washington; a brother, James (Jean) Davies of Lawrence; two sisters, Cora Hillen of Lawrence and Peggy Holden of El Monte, Calif.; two brothers-in-law, Alfred Kaikaka and Tim (Peggy) Ward; three sisters-in-law, Ellen Davies, Becky (Ron) Heckathorne and Esther Ward; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Charles and Donald Davies, and two sisters, Viola Kaikaka and Loretta Rosi.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in Central Assembly of God Church, 155 McGovern Road, Houston, PA 15342, with Pastor Todd Stemple officiating. Interment will follow in North Ten Mile Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post 744, Marianna.
