Mary Barbara Lebnick
Mary Barbara Lebnick, 96, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., went to be with her Lord, dying peacefully in her sleep Friday, April 6, 2018.
A daughter of the late Valentine and Katherine Fortuna Bogatay, she was born September 25, 1921, in Avella.
Mary was a 1939 graduate of Avella High School.
In 1945, she married Steve Lebnick, who preceded her in death in 1990. The Lebnicks were actively engaged in dairy farming for 50 years in the Glade Farms area of Preston County, W.Va., until their retirement.
She was a member of Salem Church of the Brethren, Bruceton Mills, where she taught adult Sunday school for many years, as well as serving on various administrative church boards.
Mary was a supervisor with Monongahela Soil and Water Conservation District. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed traveling and all aspects of the natural world.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Stephanie “Stevie” and Larry Bayles of Alpine Lake, Terra Alta, W.Va.; a son and his wife, John Michael and Diane Lebnick of Waynesboro, Va.; a son-in-law, Michael Shuppe of Pickerington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Amy Shuppe of Blacklick, Ohio, and Brian Shuppe and wife Toni of Baden; and three great-grandchildren, Savanna, Juliette and Hallie of Baden.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a daughter, Patricia Ann Shuppe, and a sister, Lillian Bogatay Resnik.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, 12 Main Street, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, W.Va. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, April 10, in Salem Church of the Brethren, 367 Salem Five Forks Road, Bruceton Mills, with Pastor Donnie Savage officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills.
