Andrew T. Policz
Andrew T. Policz, 81, of Waynesburg, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born July 31, 1936, in Mather, a son of the late George and Julia Urbany Policz.
Mr. Policz was married to Barbara Rush Policz, who died January 22, 2008.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving on active duty from 1956 to 1959 and in the Reserve from 1959 to 1962.
Mr. Policz was a corrections officer for SCI-Waynesburg from 1966, until his retirement in 1996.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 4793, American Legion Post 330 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461, all in Waynesburg.
Mr. Policz attended Calvary Baptist Church in Lippencott.
He enjoyed working on his farm and gardening. He also liked to travel.
Surviving are three sons, Andrew T. Policz Jr. of Jefferson, and Joseph B. Policz (Natasha) and David C. Policz (Tamara), all of Waynesburg; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Policz, Andrea Boozer, Erin, Christopher and Jacob, Jade and Leah Policz; seven great-grandchildren; his longtime companion, Donna Kachersky of Rices Landing; three brothers, Matthew Policz of Carmichaels, Richard Policz (June) of Waynesburg and Frank Policz (Ronette) of Rices Landing; four sisters, Betty Haligowski of Washington, Dolores Stabella of Washington, Priscilla Brown (Newt) of Waynesburg and Georgianna Bogucki (Michael) of North Port, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, George Policz Jr., Louis Policz and Emil Policz, and three sisters, Helen Orrie, Dorothy Jacobs and Irene Kachersky.
At Andrew’s request, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg.
