Edith A. DeBlasio Torchio

Edith A. DeBlasio Torchio, 89, of Connellsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Highlands Hospital.

She was born July 13, 1928, in Dunbar, a daughter of the late Ernest and Josephine Lizza DeBlasio.

Edith was a 1946 graduate of Connellsville High School and had locally attended business school.

She was a member of Connellsville Partner Parish of St. Rita Roman Catholic Church and it’s Christian mothers. She was also a member of Sons of Italy Ladies Lodge, Tuesday Card Club, Connellsville Garden Club and she held many offices in various organizations throughout her life.

Edith will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered, by her loving children, Barbara Charriere and husband Barry of Cannonsburg, Jeanne Lorentz and husband Rob of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Philip Torchio and wife Liz of Lexington, N.C.; grandchildren Brent Charriere and wife Erica, Brandon Charriere and wife Taylor, Philip Torchio Jr. and wife Rhonda, Douglas Torchio and wife Anna, Lauren Webb and husband Heath and Tracy Simons and husband Mike; great-grandchildren Jacob Simons, Ava, Anna and Landon Charriere, Philip III and Adrianna Torchio, Gannon and Barrett Webb and Tally Torchio; a brother, Ernest F. Deblasio of Uniontown; and a sister, Emma Jean Scott of Chesterland, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Orland A. Torchio, December 15, 2006.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, 724-628-1430, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, in St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Daniel Ulishney, as celebrant. A committal service and interment will follow in St. Rita’s Cemetery. The St. Rita’s Christian Mothers will conduct a service at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to St. Rita’s R.C. Church, 116 S. Second Street, Connellsville, PA 15425, or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 333 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA.
