Melva Hunchuck
Melva Hunchuck, 88, of Masontown, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Masontown.
She was born June 14, 1929, in Masontown, a daughter of the late Louis and Milka Skorich Rodavich.
Melva was a 1949 graduate of Masontown High School.
She was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Carmichaels, and St. George Orthodox Circle of Serbian Sisters or “Kolo.”
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Joseph P. Hunchuck; three brothers, Ralph Rodavich, George Rodavich and Nick Rodavich; and seven sisters, Elizabeth Krovocheck, Amila Posgay, Ida Bates, Josephine Craver, Ann Prica, Mildred Nychun and Dianna Michaels.
Melva was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda Chambers and husband Butch Waynesburg, Mitzie Hunchuck Masontown, Ralph Hunchuck and wife Barbie of Carmichaels and Dennis Hunchuck and wife Pam of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren Jennifer Kornick and husband Thomas of Orlando, Joseph P. Hunchuck of Florida, Amiee M. Woodring of Princeton, N.C., Jason Hunchuck of Orlando, Justin Hunchuck of Dallas, Texas, and David Fedor of Waynesburg; a great-granddaughter, Harper; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and a great-great-great-niece.
Friends were received Thursday in John S. Maykuth Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, where a Pomen service was held. Viewing will continue from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Friday, April 13, in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. Sasa Nedic and the Very Rev. Rodney Torbic officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Nativity Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Masontown.
