Matthew Thompson
Matthew Thompson, 53, of Washington, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
A son of the late William “Ben” Thompson and Emogene Kerner Salvucci of Washington, he was born February 2, 1965, in Bradford.
Matthew was a self-employed, skilled mechanic and carpenter who crafted his own bows. He loved different foods, going to camp and being in the outdoors (especially hunting).
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, creating model airplanes and being an auto racing enthusiast. Matthew was a member of Schenley and Washington American Legion Posts as well as Leechburg Marconi Club and Sokol Club.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Emogene and George Salvucci of Washington; daughter Trisha Thompson (Van) Denby of Palmyra, Tenn.; grandson Hulstyn Denby; uncle William A. Kerner of Leechburg; his fiancée, Danielle Marsinetti of Leechburg; and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alvirda “Birdie” McIntyre.
A celebration of Matthew’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 16, in Marconi Club, 135 River Avenue, Leechburg. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Sons of American Legion Post 775, 383 Schenley Road, Leechburg, PA 15656, or to American Legion Post 175, 168 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
