Bertha A. Markivich

Bertha A. Markivich, 91, of Burgettstown, passed away Sunday morning, April 15, 2018, in South Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Canonsburg.

She was born December 26, 1926, in Eldersville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Drazick Zdybicki.

Mrs. Markivich was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters associations.

Her husband, John M. Markivich Sr., passed away April 10, 1980.

She is survived by her two sons, John Markivich Jr. and wife Martha of Bulger and Bill Markivich Sr. and wife Norma of Burgettstown; grandchildren Michael Markivich and wife Carleen, Alex Markivich and wife Charlotte, Lisa Vasiladiotis and husband Lucas, Bill Markivich Jr. and wife Alicia, Karen Joseph and husband Aaron and Annie Slavin and husband Eric; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joseph, Steven and Stanley Zdybicki; and four sisters, Agnes Kowalski, Helen Chastulik, Sophie Pichora and Mary Urban.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1109 Main Street, Burgettstown, with the Rev. Bob Staszewski as celebrant. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
