William A. Likar
William A. Likar, 75, of Houston, died Monday, April 16, 2018, in his home, with his family by his side.
He was born June 8, 1942, in Avella, a son of Paul and Mary Dolinar Likar.
Mr. Likar was a 1960 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in business administration and received his master’s degree in hospital administration from Xavier University.
He spent his career in the health care industry. He was executive director of Ohio Valley General Hospital in McKees Rocks from 1980 to 1984; president of Titusville Hospital from 1985 to 1987; administrator for Villa Convalescent in Troy, Ohio, from 1987 to 1991; administrator of Independence Court of Oakland, Pittsburgh, from 1991 to 1997; and retired as administrator of Overlook Green in Whitehall, where he worked from 1997 to 2006.
He enjoyed running, working on cars, wine-making and gardening. He loved literature and was an avid golfer and huge Notre Dame football fan.
Surviving are three children, David A. Likar of Houston, Karen Manookin and husband Michael of Shoreline, Wash., and Allison Likar of West Hollywood, Calif.; three grandchildren, Maggie, Kerri and Alli Manookin; two brothers, Edmund Likar (Gloria) and Ron Likar (Jean), both of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday, April 18, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 300 Pike Street, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. Carmen D’Amico as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. The family asks everyone to meet at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
