Mary L. Cadez, 93, of Strabane, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 22, 2018, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.

She was born March 30, 1925, in Strabane, a daughter of the late John and Mary Mezeg Cadez.

Miss Cadez was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish in Canonsburg for many years. Her other memberships included SNPJ and KSKJ.

She was employed by Universal Cyclops, where she was its longest working woman, retiring after 42 years of service.

Her passion was reading. She owned more than 1,000 books and was known to be reading 35 books at a time. She also enjoyed planting a vegetable garden every spring and spending time with her nieces, nephews and their families.

Surviving are nephews Jim (Laurie), Ron “Buzz” (Debbie) and Jeffrey (Marcy) Cadez, all of whom she helped raise with her sister-in-law, Rose (who was also her best friend), after their father, Jim Cadez, passed away at 42. Also surviving are nieces Mary Fran Cadez and Judy Smith; nephews Gary (Mary) Cadez and Bill Cadez; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her brothers, John, Frank and Jim Cadez.

Miss Cadez was the last of her immediate family.

The staff at TownView provided professional and compassionate care for Mary during her stay.

Friends are welcome from 9 to 11:30 a.m., the time of departing prayers, Thursday, April 26, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
