William Hisiro
William Hisiro, 94, of Fallowfield Township, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, April 20, 2018.
Bill was born November 8, 1923, in a log cabin in Johnstown, a son of John and Helen Klanduck Hisiro.
A devoted husband to Helen Herent Hisiro, they celebrated 70 years of marriage June 11, 2017.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 803rd Chemical Company. He served in England, France, Germany and Austria.
Bill worked in steel mills in both Donora and Monessen. He retired from the maintenance department at California State College.
Bill was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Charleroi, where he served as an usher for 50 years.
Bill loved animals, gardening, spending time with family and sharing World War II stories with his grandsons.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two children, William E. Hisiro of Speers and Karen and Ozzie Gavazzi of Cecil; grandchildren Brian Gavazzi, Justin and Emily Gavazzi and Zoe and Julian Evans; two great-grandsons, Devin and Hunter Evans; and daughter-in-law Sally Hisiro of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Irene.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 226 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, PA 15022, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, with Pastor Robb Grewe officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
