Dora Louise Arrigoni
Dora Louise Arrigoni passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018.
She was born June 7, 1919, in Lawrence, the third daughter of Anthony and Barbara Paroli Arrigoni.
Dora was a registered nurse, having graduated from both Duquesne University and Mercy Hospital after a five-year nursing program in 1943. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1945 and worked as a nurse for the Navy as ensign until 1946. She then went to work for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, first working at the hospital in Butler, then moving to Erie in 1950, where she setup the recovery room and worked as a supervisor until 1967, when she moved back to Lawrence to work at the Pittsburgh VA in intensive care. She retired in 1977.
In 1997, she lost her vison due to macular degeneration, but continued to live alone until 2000.
She was a sister of the late August, Thomas, George, Anne, Dena, Sylvia, Margaret Arrigoni and Elizabeth DiBattista. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, April 27, in St. Benedict the Abbot Church, McMurray. Interment to follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with military honors.
