Myron M. Jessen
Myron M. “Jess” Jessen, 97, of McMurray, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Joan Jessen for 70 years; loving father of Brian Jessen, Karen (Michael Griffing) Jessen and Alison (Paul) Pierpoint; proud grandfather of Chris and Kevin Griffing and Zach and Valerie Pierpoint; stepgrandfather of Sheri, Carrissa and Ian Griffing; and son of the late Lawrence and Emma Jessen.
Jess was a graduate of Iowa State University, with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He retired from Consolidation Coal Co. in Library in 1986. He was also a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.
Jess and his wife, Joan, loved to travel the world. Jess will be remembered for being an avid bridge player and for his passion for music. He was the only man in America to watch football with the sound off while listening to the opera. Most of all, Jess had an immense love for his family. This shows in his three beautiful children, who carry his legacy, and his love shown to his wife by giving her the freedom to be accomplished and volunteer her time.
Arrangements are by Beinhauer Funeral Home, Peters Township. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, in Westminster Presbyterian Church Chapel, 2040 Washington Road, Upper St. Clair. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
