Victoria Hadanich
Victoria Hadanich, 98, of Washington, died Friday, April 27, 2018, in her home, surrounded by family.
She was born April 16, 1920, in Footdale, the youngest of nine children of the late John and Catherine Guzik. She grew up in Bentleyville and Hill Station, before starting her family in Manifold.
She was married for 66 years to her husband, George Hadanich, who died in 2008. More than 60 years ago, she and her husband built their home, where Mrs. Hadanich lived with her daughter Evelyn until her death.
Mrs. Hadanich spent years perfecting the art of waitressing, working for well-known restaurants such as Tower Restaurant and Red Bull Inn. Her commitment to service and helping others carried her into volunteer work. She was a longstanding member of Washington Lions Club and a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow award for humanitarian services. She also volunteered at hospice, Salvation Army and her church, Central Assembly of God.
She enjoyed bowling and being involved in Women’s Aglow. She continued to touch lives and make a difference with everyone that entered her life until her last days, always spreading her husband’s “good to be alive” philosophy.
Surviving are her three children, George P. Hadanich of Washington, Gloria Elliott of Roanoke, Va., and Evelyn Krol of Washington.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, Washington. All other services are private.
Arrangements are entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors Inc., Charles R. Piatt, supervisor, Lawrence K. Donovan, director.
