Charles Barno

Charles Barno, 90, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born July 10, 1928, in Mather, a son of the late John and Susie Guba Barno.

Mr. Barno received his master’s degree from West Virginia University.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 954, Jefferson.

Mr. Barno retired in 1994 after teaching for 39 years in Jefferson-Morgan School District, where he was also a high school coach for football, wrestling and baseball. He was a member of National Education Association and Pennsylvania State Education Association.

He was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church.

On March 22, 1953, he married Doris Wagner, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Cheryl (Larry) Kuharcik of Mather, Charles (Judy) Barno of Ellenton, Fla., Barbara (Greg) White of Altoona and Susan Clapp of Forest, Va.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Deceased are four brothers, George Barno, John Barno, Andy Barno and Frank Barno, and six sisters, Anna Clipper, Helen DeStetan, Mary Matyi, Julia Duda, Marge Murray and Emma Barno.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 11, with Pastor Pete Arigoni officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
