Martin E. “Marty” Williams, 90, of Washington, died Sunday, August 12, 2018, in Premiere Health Care, Chartiers Township.

He was born September 14, 1927, in Washington, a son of the late Martin Williams and Mary Hayes Williams.

Marty was a U.S. Army veteran, where he received the World War II Victory Medal.

He worked at Cooper Power Systems for 37 years as an expeditor.

Marty was a member of American Legion Post 175, Loyal Order of Moose 22, Washington, Fayette and Greene counties Sports Hall of Fame, Washington City Roadrunners and Trinity High School “Class of ’45.”

He was an avid sports fan.

On February 14, 1984, he married Pauline “Polly” Wilson, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Don Chess of Washington; a daughter, Dana McCord of Avella; a sister, Shirley Curry of Lone Pine; a grandchild, Morgan McCord; several nieces and nephews including, Brooke Wilson, whom he treated like a granddaughter.

Deceased are two brothers, Charles and Shirls Williams, and a sister, Mabel Strawn.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, August 16, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Roger Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
