Harry Leonardi
Harry Leonardi, 97, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 19, 2018, in Canonsburg Hospital.
He was born February 25, 1921, in Morgan, a son of the late Alberico and Martha Bruno Leonardi.
Mr. Leonardi was a graduate of Cecil High School and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant with Anti-Tank Company 376th Infantry Regiment under Gen. George Patton.
Reared in Muse, he spent most of his life in Canonsburg. He was groundskeeper and equipment manager for Canon-McMillan School District until his retirement this past year.
Mr. Leonardi was a member of Muse Independent Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
On January 27, 1946, he married Dorothy Jean Viner, who passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his three sons, Harry Gerard Leonardi (Alexis) of Lawrence, Chad Michael Leonardi of Spokane, Wash., and Lenny Albert Leonardi (Teresa) of Seffner, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister Lena Nackoul of Strabane; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are three sisters, Mary Iannarelli, Clara Rozanc and Rose Cardinale.
At the request of the deceased, there will be a private family visitation in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday, August 24, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Army and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg Honor Guard.
