Milton J. Keene

Milton J. Keene, 89, formerly of North Fort Myers, Fla., Westlake, Ohio, and Washington, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, in Burleson, Texas.

Born December 11, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Lillian Doegan Keene and Edward Keene, he was a University of Delaware graduate and attended University of Pittsburgh for graduate school.

Milt served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War and then pursued a career in financial systems, primarily in the steel industry.

Having played college football, Milt was a lifelong football fan, particularly of the Penn State Nittany Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

Milt was married for 31 years to his soulmate, the late Nancy Jean Manrow Keene, and together they enjoyed skiing, boating, bowling, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward A. Keene and Warren C. Keene, and his favorite dog, Buzzie.

Milt is survived by his son, Neil Keene; daughters Deborah Smith (Randy), Lori Keene and Dana Johnson (John); stepdaughters Brenda Saunders (Bernie Froats) and Kimberly Horner; grandchildren Noah, Aubrée and Ryan Johnson (Brandi), Caylee Rodriguez (Adrian), Brittany Smith and Kamran Mian; step-granddaughters Damara Van Beneden (William) and Desire Krawchyk (Josh); great-grandchildren Toby, Reagan and Parker Johnson, Nolan Rodriguez and Jagger and Jett Smith; and stepgreat-grandchildren Will, Sara and Elizabeth Van Beneden. Milt valued his relationships with his nephew, Edward Keene, and family friend Rupert Lowe. He shared happy memories and remained friends with his first wife, Cherylle Rhodes, and he was happy to know they both had the love and support of their children.

A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held Friday, August 31, in Passavant Community Abundant Life Center, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople. Friends will be received from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The family invites donations in Milt’s name to Salvation Army.
