Betty Jean Grim
Betty Jean Grim, 92, of Washington, passed away in her home Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
She was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Schriver Haney.
She was married 59 years to the late Raymond E. Grim, whom she married December 21, 1945.
She is survived by daughter Sandy Hallam; son Denny Grim; brother Gilbert (Paula) Haney of Washington; grandson Jarrod Grim (John) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughter Ashley (Joe) Testa of Pittsburgh; stepgrandsons Scott and Brandon (Laurie) Blackhurst of Washington; and great-grandchildren Brady and Brogan.
In addition to her parents and husband, deceased are brothers Robert and Willard Haney.
Betty “Jean” was a loving and compassionate woman who always sought out the best in others and never met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren beyond compare and was always so proud of them. She spent countless hours with them, mentoring and caring for them.
She was a member of West Washington United Methodist Church and the Lagonda Homemakers. During her illness, she met so many wonderful caregivers who all loved her and gave the best care, as they would have to their own mother.
The skills of Dr. Monaco (neurosurgeon) and his staff at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital allowed her the chance to spend an additional two years with her loved ones. Dr. Landenwitsch always cared for her and allied with other physicians to bring her the best care. Special care was given to her at home by her cousin Theresa Miller, as well as Gateway Hospice nurse Ashley Burd, nurses aide and good friend Vesta, the Rev. Sue and Pastor Gary, who was always Betty’s best friend and always brought her comfort and a smile every time they met. She was a blessing to all who shared in her life. So, to all, as she had said a thousand times as she parted with a double hand wave, “Love to all!”
