Alexander Simpson
Alexander Simpson, 85, of Waynesburg, died at 2:49 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, in Washington Health System Greene, Waynesburg.
He was born Friday, December 30, 1932, in Wana, W.Va., a son of the late Thomas Benton Simpson and Minerva Wise Simpson.
Mr. Simpson was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Waynesburg Eagles Club 598, Loyal Order of the Moose 461 of Waynesburg, V.F.W Post 4793 and the James Farrell American Legion Post 330, both of Waynesburg.
He enjoyed hunting.
For 20 years, he was a custodian at Waynesburg College and then for 23 years worked as a coal miner for Consol Energy.
His wife, Evelyn S. White Simpson, whom he married January 13, 1952, died April 16, 1990.
Surviving are a son, James R.(Mary Ann) Simpson of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Rickie Thomas, April (Rick) Herrick, Tammy Hayes, Christina Fowler and Amanda Steele; six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elva Dee Wilson of Waynesburg and Mildred Pratt of Carmichaels; a brother, Elmer Simpson of Lewisville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Shirley Wright, and three brothers, Wilbur, Luther and Thomas Simpson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, with the Rev. Dr. Donald R. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Greene Co. Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
