Charles G. Whipkey
Charles G. “Gib” Whipkey, 84, of Carmichaels, died Monday, February 5, 2018, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., with family by his side.
He was born October 2, 1933, in Carmichaels, a son of the late Charles and Kathryn Miller Whipkey.
Mr. Whipkey was a 1951 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School.
He was a self-employed contractor and lived most of his life in the Carmichaels area, where he was a member of Gladys Baptist Church.
Mr. Whipkey was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time and visiting with family and friends. He was an avid deer hunter all his life.
On August 6, 1955, he married Edna Claire Strosnider, who died March 2, 2013.
Surviving are eight children, April Mezan of Masontown, Stuart Whipkey of Carmichaels, Kathy (Joe) Waligora of Waynesburg, Leslie (Bob) Connor of Carmichaels, Charles G. “Gib” Whipkey Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pam Whipkey of Dry Tavern, Mike (Andrea) Whipkey of Carmichaels and Bev (Jon) Klimek of Carmichaels; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Jim Mezan; two brothers, Earl and William Whipkey; and a sister, Daisy Szoyka.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, February 8, in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with the Rev. Gary Cobert officiating.
