Dominic Antonelli

Dominic “Nick” Antonelli, 67, of Monongahela, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, in his home.

He was born November 23, 1950, in Monongahela, a son of Mona R. Campa Antonelli of Monongahela and the late Dominic F. Antonelli.

After graduating from the former Mon Valley Catholic High School in 1968, Mr. Antonelli enrolled in a one-year program at Institute of Computer Management in Pittsburgh. He then earned a bachelor of science degree in science and technology from California State University.

He served in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After returning home, he went to work at the former Combustion Engineering in Monongahela, until its closing in 1984. He had since worked for Pennsylvania American Water Co. in McMurray.

Mr. Antonelli was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, formerly St. Anthony Church, in Monongahela, where he was also a member of Holy Name Society.

He also belonged to Mid Mon Valley Shipmates and Washington County Veterans Advisory Board. He was an honorary member of Monongahela Neighborhood Boys Club.

Mr. Antonelli always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially making wine and playing bocce and golf.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Debra Gayhart Antonelli; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Lizzy Antonelli of Madison, Wis.; a sister, Suzanne Plesha of Greensburg; his mother-in-law, Alyce Larson of New Eagle; a nephew, Adrian Plesha of Laguna Beach, Calif.; and many other additional loving family members.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, where prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 9. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Monongahela, with Father William Terza as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. The Mid Mon Valley Shipmates will conduct a Two-Bell Ceremony at 2:15 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
