Betty Jane Lamp
Betty Jane Lamp, 88, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Denbo, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Virginia Beach.
She was born September 29, 1929, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Floyd and Keturah Wymer Racey.
She was a 1947 graduate of Centerville High School.
Mrs. Lamp was employed as a postal clerk, working in both the Denbo and Uniontown post offices.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Denbo.
Mrs. Lamp loved animals and had numerous dogs and cats. She enjoyed bird watching and reading everything she could get her hands on, especially books and magazines.
On May 28, 1950, she married S. Raymond Lamp, who passed away March 16, 1999.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Sawka (Frank) of Denbo, Kelly Lamp of Virginia Beach, Va., and Dawna Babyak (Bruce) of Denbo; four grandchildren, Raelin Sawka, Kristin Scharl (Adam), Victoria Heverley (Shawn) and Landon Forbes (Amanda); six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a brother Floyd Racey Jr. and grandson Frank Anthony Sawka.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 15, with Pastor Julie Kolacz officiating. Private interment will be in Westland Cemetery, Brownsville. The staff of Westminster Canterbury Hospice of Virginia Beach provided kind and professional services.
