Charles George Dupesko
Charles George Dupesko, 89, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, February 9, 2018, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
He was born June 18, 1928, in Cloverdale, a son of the late George and Julia Hegadus Dupesko.
During civilian life, Mr. Dupesko was employed as a coal miner and in construction.
Mr. Dupesko proudly served for two years in the U.S. Navy during the post-World War II occupation. He then served for 18 years in the U.S. Coast Guard.
During his military service, he earned the World War II Victory Medal, Occupation of Japan Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Coast Guard Accommodation Medal.
Mr. Dupesko was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, Canonsburg.
He enjoyed playing bingo, taking long rides in his car and watching sports on TV.
Surviving are four sisters, Sophie Dupesko of Virginia Beach, Va., Bertha Smith of Canonsburg, Cecelia Warmingham of Houston and Becky Hodgson of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are six sisters, Rose Pyda, Julia Pribish, Irene Smoke, Mary Carothers, Margaret Ostrander and Betty Louise Dupesko, and four brothers, John Dupesko, Michael Dupesko, George Dupesko and Joe Dupesko.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 14. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Chartiers Township, with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Navy.
