Julia Patnesky
Julia Patnesky, 95, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 11, 2018, in North Strabane Rehabilitation.
She was born April 7, 1922, in Morgan, a daughter of the late John and Mary Pasteryk Maranka. She was a graduate of South Fayette High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg.
Mrs. Patnesky had been employed by Canon-McMillan School District for 16 years and for four years was manager of the dietary department in Cecil Junior High School. She enjoyed reading and playing cards.
On June 29, 1946, she married W. Leonard Patnesky, who passed away April 4, 2014, following 67 years of marriage.
She leaves behind her two sons, Leonard W. (Darling) Patnesky and Raymond P. (Sandra) Patnesky and a daughter, Jill C. (Dennis) Engel, all of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Robert C. (Pam) and Bryan R. (Leslie) Patnesky and Tyler J. Engel (fiancée Melanie Duffy), Scott (Brenda) and Jay (Lisa) Smith and Amy (Louis) Abruzzi; seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Lauren and Leah Abruzzi, Shane and Cameron Smith, Dante and Ben (Sammie Lynn) Rambeau; great-great-granddaughter Aubrey; sister Mary Wieczorek; brother Paul Maranka; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are three sisters, Eva Conway, Ann Hoggard and Rose Kessler.
Friends and family are welcome from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, FD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. At the request of the deceased, private Catholic blessing services will be held, followed by committal services in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
