Thelma M. Sonntag

Thelma M. Sonntag, 94, of Washington, died Friday, February 16, 2018, in Donnell House, following a brief illness.

She was born July 21, 1923, in Washington, a daughter of Peter and May Welsh Sonntag.

Miss Sonntag was a 1939 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

She was employed as a supervisor/trainer at Bell Telephone for 42 years, from where she retired.

Miss Sonntag loved to travel, sing, play the piano and organ and discuss politics. She loved watching John Wayne movies. Miss Sonntag was a true philanthropist, donating to various charitable organizations.

Surviving are three cousins, Susan (William) Milligan of Fredericksburg, Va., Robert (Melissa) Hessler of Chambersburg and Kirk (Joyce) Hessler of Washington.

In addition to her mother and father, deceased is a brother, Peter Sonntag Jr., who died in infancy.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m., the hour of a blessing service, Wednesday, February 21, in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. The Rev. Dan Waruszewski will officiate. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301.
