Loretta Mae Watson

Loretta Mae Watson, 81, of Claysville, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in her home.

She was born November 15, 1936, in Hundred, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank Leason and Jelemma Wise McDonnell.

Mrs. Watson was a resident of Claysville since 1958. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Claysville.

She worked as a saleswoman for Maggie’s Newsstand for 23 years, until her retirement in 1998.

Mrs. Watson was a member of Claysville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Claysville Election Board.

She enjoyed a friendly game of bingo and bunco every chance she got. She loved going to yard sales and flea markets. She would sit and work on puzzle books for hours.

Surviving are two children, Alicia Watson of Claysville and Donna Jo Carter of Washington; four grandchildren, Amber Ganster, Andrew Jinkens, Jordan Welsh and Zachary Carter; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Reid of Claysville and Judy (Carl) Vanderhoof of Claysville; and a brother, Steve (Karen) McDonnell of Troy, Ill.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, James Donald Watson, who passed away February 11, 1997; three brothers, Isaac McDonnell, Archie McDonnell and Paul McDonnell; and a sister, Violet Morrison.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, 317 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 23, with the Rev. August Hurst and Pastor Mike Matthews co-officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
